Chicago White Sox: Eloy Jimenez is the number one OF prospect in baseball

The Chicago White Sox are hoping to take a step in the right direction this season after going through a true rebuild. Eloy Jimenez needs to be a big part it.

The Chicago White Sox know what they have in their future outfielder, Eloy Jimenez. He was named the top outfield prospect by MLB Pipeline. This doesn’t come to a surprise to most people, especially those who follow the game. It is, however, good to see members of the organization be recognized as the best.

Jimenez had an outstanding year last season. He started the season in AA and was promoted to AAA ball by the time the season reached the stretch run. He played 53 games in AA and 55 games with AAA so a pretty decent split. His stats in AAA with the Charlotte Knights are the most important as it is the closest league to the majors. His batting average was .355 and his OPS was .996 in those 55 games.

So what does this mean exactly for the White Sox? Well last year’s top outfielder, Ronald Acuna Jr., was one of the best rookies in baseball last season so everyone is hoping that Jimenez can follow in his footsteps and be that good. He has stated that his goal is to win rookie of the year, and chances are that if that happens then the White Sox are going to win more games next season than last year. There is a chance in most people’s eyes that Eloy will grow into the White Sox best player.

Where is Jimenez going to fit into the White Sox lineup? it depends on some other things like whether or not certain big name free agents sign with the team. Let’s say they do not get any of those types of player — then he will likely bat in the five to seven range of the lineup. If he hits the ground running he will absolutely move up in the lineup as the season moves along. This could also help other hitters in the lineup by providing them protection.

Look for the White Sox to be a much better baseball team in the future, and Jimenez is going to be a huge part of it. The fact that MLB Pipeline sees him as the best at his position is no joke and something for fans to be very excited about. He was acquired by the White Sox in the summer of 2017 from the Chicago Cubs, in exchange for starting pitcher Jose Quintana.  The White Sox are hoping that Eloy Jimenez hits so they can say with confidence that they won the trade. They also acquired Dylan Cease, who may spend some time in the minors this season but White Sox fans should see him on the south side sooner, rather than later.

It is a great time to be a fan of this team. The future is very bright, and the prospects bring promise. Once some of them start to come in and make an impact this team is going to be so good. They hope Eloy Jimenez is one of the main parts.
