Are the Chicago White Sox finally zeroing in on one of the biggest free agents in baseball? The Manny Machado sweepstakes rages on.
The Chicago White Sox have been one of the most mentioned teams among this year’s MLB free agency period. If you are a fan, you know just how emotional of a ride it has been.
Countless reports have come out about two of the biggest free agents in baseball, shortstop Manny Machado and outfielder Bryce Harper. It has gotten to the point where I have seen some White Sox fans claim having what they deem, “Machado and Harper fatigue.”
It really has been a whirlwind. Multiple times, we have seen reports about the White Sox being favorites to land either Machado or Harper, with the momentum ultimately dying down just a bit.
Make no mistake, the White Sox are absolutely a team to watch when it comes down to either of these guys. They are one of the more believable destinations at this point, for either one of them.
On Wednesday, things got a bit funny.
Hector Gomez, of Z101 Digital and MLB Network, posted a tweet that afternoon and it has caused quite the ruckus.
According to Gomez, at one point, the decision for Machado was narrowed down to both the White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies.
Of course, the Phillies have plenty of money to throw at anyone they would like this offseason. The question has always been, though, do either Harper or Machado want to play in Philadelphia?
The saga seems as though it will never come to an end. At this point, fans have to be pulling their hair out.
Will one of these guys make a decision, already?
There is no doubt that when one of them decides on a new team, the other will follow shortly. It has been a waiting game like no other, and at the moment all we continue to get are rumors and reports which get altered the next day.
Does Gomez have any insight? Plenty of experts and insiders have claimed to know the end result several times in the past few weeks. Right now, it is still all a mystery — a very intriguing mystery.
