The Chicago Bears season ended in heartbreak, but there are reasons to believe next season will be even better.

The 2018 season did not end the way the Chicago Bears or their fans had hoped. In fact, it ended like it started, with a heartbreaking loss. The only difference is after Week One’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, they still had 15 more games to go.

However, the finality of Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles hit both fans and players with the weight of a tractor-trailer.

But what happened in between those two games was nothing short of remarkable, especially for a team that finished the previous season 5-11; a team who approximately one year ago was without a head coach; a team that drafted No. 8 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft; and a team whose best wide receiver this time a year ago was Kendall Wright (who did not make an NFL roster this season).

It’s easy for fans to forget just how far this team has come in 12 short months. That’s because it reset expectations very quickly with not just the trade for Khalil Mack but also their play to start the season. With each passing game, they improved and made fans begin to believe that something special might be brewing.

Those revised expectations were what brought excitement back to Soldier Field but also what made Sunday’s loss so tough to swallow. However, it is, at least in part, what should give fans hope for next season, along with the following three reasons why they will win Super Bowl LIV.
