Recent reports have indicated that superstar free agent shortstop Manny Machado might be leaning towards signing with the Chicago White Sox.
Stay calm Chicago White Sox fans.
Ok maybe not. Manny Machado could, as reports have alluded to, be leaning towards the White Sox.
Per FoxSportsRadio, Dodgers insider David Vassegh said on Dodger Talk on Thursday that he “Talked to someone today very close to Machado”, and they “think he is signing with the White Sox”.
Vassegh went on to say “The White Sox are going to be the team that steps up”.
Is this believable? Absolutely.
Does it make the White Sox a lock to sign Machado? Not at all.
If there is one thing we’ve learned in this fiasco it is that every single piece of news must be taken with a grain of salt. Until something material happens, it is quite frankly pretty foolish to pin a team as the favorite.
At one minute the Yankees are the favorite, the next minute the Phillies are offering the most money, and at this instant, the White Sox are the ones that Machado is reportedly leading towards.
I, as do most others, have literally no idea who to trust. Until Machado is officially putting on the jersey of his new team, reports are going to be flying everywhere as to where he’ll sign.
The White Sox are a realistic fit for Machado, as they’ve apparently made an offer, have met with the free agent shortstop and have had long rumored and reported interest for as long as last offseason, when they were interested in trading for Machado when he was a member of the Baltimore Orioles.
Anyways, the news reported by Vassegh is certainly exciting. Signing Machado would completely transition the White Sox franchise and rebuild, and all reports this offseason point to the White Sox being all in on a deal with the shortstop.
Machado is, as reports have indicated, expected to sign very, very soon. Fingers crossed Sox fans, lets hope that the big move that we all hope and need is just one tweet away.
