Chicago Bears: These Philadelphia Eagles pose problems
By Ryan Heckman
Defensive Lineman Fletcher Cox
The Eagles defense was far from how good it was a year ago, but as the season went on, they got a little better each week it seemed. A large reason why is due to their front seven. Don’t even try saying something nice about their secondary — not even Malcom Jenkins.
That’s a debate for another day.
Back to the front seven, which is headlined by the best player on that defense, Fletcher Cox. Similar to what Hicks does for the Bears defense, Cox is an absolute game-wrecker up front. He can do everything from blow up a run play, to taking on double teams without a problem. He lives in the back field.
Center Cody Whitehair and both guards, James Daniels and Kyle Long, will see plenty of him on Sunday. If there is one guy across the front seven they’re preparing most for, it’s Cox. On the season, Cox has a team-high 95 pressures, a team-high 24 quarterback hits and tied for the team lead with 11 sacks.
Wondering about the rest of the front seven? Sure, they aren’t on the level of the Bears, but they’re plenty good. We’ll get to that a little later.
