New Orleans Pelicans

As I have noted in other pieces recently, the big focus for the New Orleans Pelicans is to do whatever it takes to make Anthony Davis happy. Davis’ contract expires after next season, making him a free agent in the summer of 2020. Obviously, the Pelicans have not exactly been a championship-caliber team for the entire tenure of Davis’ career.

Now, in a conference that hardly features a runaway favorite, record-wise, the Pelicans have a chance to add more talent to surround Davis with. Even as recent as last year, we have seen that New Orleans is not afraid to spend draft capital to get additional talent. The Bulls, of course, netted a first-round pick for forward Nikola Mirotic before last year’s deadline passed.

Parker is not a superstar by any means, but he offers the Pelicans enough talent and upside as a young player. He is worth taking a chance on for a team who is currently so close to the playoff picture. The Pelicans will have to do more than just acquire Parker to make Davis happy, but he would be a nice start to that process.
