Bryce Harper Rumors: Chicago looking more like the destination
By Ryan Heckman
Sox are a wildcard, but a strong one
On Monday, NBC Sports Chicago’s Chuck Garfien sent out some pretty intriguing tweets regarding Harper and the White Sox.
ESPN’s long-time MLB expert Tim Kurkjian told Garfien:
"“I think they have a chance. I just think a few other teams have a better chance.”"
Garfien replied to a follower who posed the question of whether or not he thinks the Sox will sign Harper:
"“I believe the White Sox are trying to sign him.”"
Garfien went on to say that the biggest question is, of course, whether or not Harper wants to play for the South Siders.
Remember, though, there was a whole lot of hoopla going on via Twitter a few weeks back when someone reportedly posted a photo (which they later deleted) of the United Center. The photo depicted a banner with the White Sox logo and “Bryce Harper 34” across it.
No one really knew what it meant at the time, but there started to become a feeling that the Sox would be more involved with Harper than anybody first anticipated.
If, somehow, he chose to sign with the Sox, let’s just say they would become a bit more relevant in a hurry. Keep it locked here and we’ll have more on the way as it comes out. The Winter Meetings are just underway.
