Chicago Bears: 5 reasons fans should be thankful
Money Mitch
Last but not least, fans should be thankful that the Bears have their franchise quarterback. And for any remaining doubters out there, yes, he is a franchise quarterback. Bears fans can be a fickle group sometimes, and for a fan base that is starved for good quarterback play, it can sometimes be impatient.
Not only that, but that impatience can also make you forget what he looked like last year in John Fox’s offense, and even what he looked like in the first few games of Nagy’s new offense. His 21 touchdown passes are nearly triple his touchdown passes from 2017 — in two fewer games. He’s completing 65 percent of his passes for a total of 2469 yards, with only 9 interceptions.
Heck, if prior to the start of the season you said those would be his statistics for the entire season, most Bears fans would have signed up for that. And yet he still has 6 games remaining and has his team in first place in the NFC North.
Speaking of fickle Bears fans, I find it amusing that the same people on social media who claim Trubisky is a bust and the defense has carried this team are now the same ones worried if they’ll be able to beat the Lions without him.
In any event, so long as you see the forest through the trees, and not analyze him from pass to pass, or even game to game, you might just see what’s in front of all our faces. And that is a franchise quarterback blossoming before our eyes. For that, I am truly thankful.
