Chicago Bears: 3 defining moments from win over Vikings
By Ryan Heckman
Khalil Mack put the Vikings’ offense on notice early
Late in the first quarter, the Vikings were driving down the field and looked to take a 7-3 lead on the Bears. As Kirk Cousins handed the ball off to his running back Dalvin Cook, the All-Pro linebacker decided he had had enough of this drive and put it to an end.
Khalil Mack wrecked the drive. He wrecked the game. He’s wrecked most games he’s played in so far as a Bear.
Just as the Vikings were gaining steam and looked to put points on the board, Mack completely shifted the momentum. He let the Vikings know early on that this defense would be a problem, and not just the pass rush. Mack and his defense take pride in all aspects of the game, and proved it on that play.
If I’m a Vikings fan, during that play, I’m immediately fearful of what the rest of the game could hold. Seriously. Mack is that type of player. He is that scary.
He’s a game-wrecker. But, you already knew that.
From there on out, it was game-on for the defense. Mack’s forced fumble and recovery completely shifted momentum once again in favor of the Bears and they never looked back.
