Mitch is in charge

Trubisky delivered the kind of performance that should make Bears fans tingle all over. After being the subject of much scrutiny, and downright silly criticism, Trubisky came out and delivered what Nagy called his best game of the year.

He was calm in the pocket, kept his eyes downfield, and slung pinpointed lasers all over the field. He finished the game 23-30 for 355 yards, three passing touchdowns and one via the rush. Not only did he silence the media critics, but there weren’t too many Lions fans chirping on social media after that game.

Perhaps my favorite Trubisky quote to date was in response to being asked about the criticism from failed front office executive Michael Lombardi. When asked about his thoughts of Lombardi’s recent “evaluation”, Mitch replied, “I’m not sure who that is.” Talk about throwing shade.

Over the past few weeks, one thing is becoming abundantly clear — this is Trubisky’s team. His teammates love what he brings both on and off the field, and are completely in his corner. Their expectations of him have been extremely high, and now he is starting to live up to them.

With each game, Trubisky obliterates a new absurd narrative about his play. Whether it’s that “he can’t throw left” or “he can’ throw deep” or “he’s not comfortable in the pocket” Trubisky continues to prove doubters wrong. In putting together a near-flawless effort on Sunday, he sent a message to his critics, and the rest of the NFC North without saying a word.
