Player Number Three: Guard R.J. Barrett

Amazingly, the top recruit in the country is being overshadowed by another freshman.

Zion Williamson gets all the attention in Durham, however, R.J. Barrett deserves just as much, if not more attention than his fellow phenom frosh.

In his first game, Barrett, the top recruit in the country, went off for 33 points (50 percent shooting), and six assists.

The guard/forward is clearly an excellent top scoring option, as he possesses the special ability to score in any and every way possible.

In addition, Barrett excels on defense, which, as aforementioned, the Bulls really, really could use some help in.

We’ve talked about those “generational talents” that every NBA championship team needs. Barrett is the exact type of player that has the potential to be the best player on a championship team.

While the Bulls have already built a solid core, they could model that core around a player like Barrett. Giving Barrett the keys as the center of the offense would certainly open things up on defense, as less of an emphasis would be placed on the offense.

Furthermore, Barrett would serve as an excellent complement to the current Bulls players. A great passer, Barrett would succeed greatly in getting the ball to other high-octane scorers such as Markkanen and Lavine.

If the Bulls are a piece or two away from competing in the Eastern Conference, the addition of Barrett could serve the same impact that two players would.

Next. Bulls: Carter already proving he's best rookie big man. dark

Unfortunately, it’d take a lot of losing for the Bulls to have a chance to get their hands on Barrett. The projected top pick in the draft, it would take a lot of losses, and probably a bit of a regression from Barrett for the Bulls to even have a chance.
