Wide Receiver Kenny Golladay

Before I get to the star of the show, let me say real quickly that the Bears absolutely must key-in on Marvin Jones as well. Jones has been a tremendous deep threat for the Lions and gives them the big body who can take advantage of a lot of different matchups. Don’t overlook Jones. He’s more than capable of hurting the Bears.

On to the star of this segment, and that is second-year wide receiver Kenny Golladay. Whether or not you agree with the Lions trading Golden Tate (as a Bears fan, you should be thrilled), it means one thing for this kid — more of a spotlight.

Golladay started this season on a tear, catching 27 passes for 424 yards and three touchdowns over his first five games. Since then, he’s totaled just six receptions (on seven targets) for 95 yards.

This would be the perfect time for Matthew Stafford to recognize what was working earlier in the season. Calling Golladay’s number is only going to lead to more yards and scores for the Lions. The more targets he gets, the more likely Detroit is to put points on the board. It’s been that clear-cut for them.

The Bears should be relatively familiar with Golladay, too, as he is a Chicago kid. Golladay played his college ball at Northern Illinois and was born in Chicago, so the Bears should be no stranger to what he can do.

My assumption is that Kyle Fuller would match up on Golladay, with Prince Amukamara on the more physical Jones. Both of these matchups should be fun to watch on Sunday, as these receivers are capable of breaking off big plays.

The question is, will they get the chance? The Bears’ pass rush should be at full force again with a healthy Khalil Mack. Still, keep an eye out for Golladay. He’s been phenomenal when he’s gotten the targets.
