Chicago White Sox Rumors: Bryce Harper situation has us confused
By Ryan Heckman
Did somebody give it away?
The other piece of information we learned on Thursday — well, actually two separate pieces of information, and one of them a bit earlier — had to do with the White Sox.
First of all, somebody tweeted a photo of the United Center with a banner that read (along with a White Sox logo):
“Bryce Harper #34”
The image was deleted, but screenshots were saved. Why did the United Center have a banner with Harper’s name, number and a White Sox logo next to it?
Speaking of Harper’s number, there is a certain White Sox player who wears the exact same digits, “34.” Yes, Michael Kopech is that guy. Late in October, he posted this photo on Instagram:
Why would Kopech post something so lengthy and meaningful about the number? Well, it could be a coincidence. But, others wonder if the Sox came to Kopech and asked permission to use the number for Harper instead.
It’s all speculation, but it sure is intriguing, no?
The interesting thing we must remember is this: Harper’s agent Scott Boras recently revealed that the decision had already been made — and was a done deal for weeks! If, in fact, the deal is already done, why haven’t we heard just yet?
Is Harper still mulling it over? Is he having second thoughts? Could the decision, in reality, be far from made?
Whatever the case may be, this saga is going to get more and more interesting as time goes on. Stay tuned, as we’ll have the latest on the situation and how it impacts not only the White Sox, but the Cubs as well.
