Chicago Bears: 4 players who earned midseason awards

Defensive MVP: Inside Linebacker Danny Trevathan
While many would think Khalil Mack could take the cake on this one, the fact is, he’s missed the last two games after leaving the field against the New England Patriots. Rehabilitating his ankle injury has been priority number one, but that’s been just fine because the Bears have won both games without him.
Throughout the entire season, though, the guy who has held together this unit from top to bottom has been Danny Trevathan.
He currently leads the Bears in tackles with a total of 61. Trevathan also has a pair of sacks on the year, accompanied by three passes defended, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
If you want a perfect example of how much he’s meant to this defense, just take a look at the play which knocked Chris Ivory out of the game against the Bills. Ivory thought he was headed for the end zone. Trevathan met him in mid-air, and may as well have been a brick wall. Ivory was stood up, Trevathan kept him out on the goal line, and the running back left the game because of how hard he was hit.
Trevathan has been everywhere. The Bears’ defense is much better in every facet, but especially against the run, with him on the field. Over his first couple of years with the team, Trevathan hasn’t always been on the field. But, he’s stayed healthy and has been the steady rock of this unit in 2018. He is without a doubt the Bears’ defensive MVP so far.
