Chicago Bears: 4 players who earned midseason awards
By Ryan Heckman
Through eight games, the Chicago Bears have had plenty of guys step up each week, but which players did enough to earn a midseason award?
It has been quite the ride thus far for these Chicago Bears. The 2018 season was supposed to be a learning experience; more of an experiment than anything else. With plenty of young players on the roster, plus having simply a lot of new faces in general, the Bears were supposed to use this season as a stepping stone for the coming years.

In a way, it’s been just that — a learning experience. The offense is still a work in progress, which is scary, considering the Bears are putting up 29.4 points per game through nine weeks, good for fifth in all of the NFL.
That’s not too shabby for a team with a quarterback whom everyone and their mother loves to rag on lately, huh? Imagine what this team will do once that certain quarterback hits his potential.
The defense, meanwhile, is fourth in points allowed, giving up just 19.1 points per game. The Bears have totaled the fifth-most sacks (24), second-most interceptions (14), second-most forced fumbles (12) and are tied for first in the NFL with four defensive scores.
At 5-3, it’s pretty plain to see why a lot of the preseason analysis may have been dead wrong about this team. The Bears are first in their division. That’s a fact. Now, the schedule gets much tougher in the second half of the season, but what they have done so far overall has been quite impressive.
With many players showing up in big ways each and every Sunday, there are several options for our midseason awards. But, here are four that are worth talking about in a more notable fashion.
