Chicago Bears: 3 reasons the Bills are a sneaky matchup
By Ryan Heckman
Shady is still a threat
The Bills offense is one of the absolute worst offenses in all of football. To make matters worse, they will be forced to start the infamous 5-pick Nathan Peterman on Sunday. I know that this Bears defense is licking their chops in angst to get their hands on the quarterback. Fans should be excited, too, because the offensive line is atrocious.
But — and this is a significant ”but” — they still have to look out for number 25. Yes, LeSean McCoy has had a down year. However, most of that can be attributed to the play around him (and injuries). The offensive line grades as one of the worst in football. The quarterback play has been mediocre on its best series. The pass-catchers are almost non-existent.
McCoy is still a threat.
He can still catch the football and make moves after the fact. He’s still a slippery player in space. Last week, he caught six passes for 82 yards against the Patriots. The Bills may finally be realizing that their best chance to stay competitive is to not only hand the ball off to McCoy, but to get him heavily involved in the passing game.
The offensive line can’t run block to save their lives, but if Shady gets some space via the passing game, he still has the speed and the cutbacks to take the ball the distance. Priority number one on Sunday should be to contain McCoy while also getting to the quarterback.
