Could the Chicago Cubs land one of the most historically-great free agents once the MLB offseason enters full swing?

The Chicago Cubs have a guy on their roster by the name of Kris Bryant. If you do not know already, Bryant is represented by the one and only Scott Boras. Why is this pertinent information to begin with, here?

Boras is also the one who represents what could be the Cubs’ bombshell signing this offseason — Washington Nationals superstar Bryce Harper.

Set to become a free agent and command a contract of at least 10 years, $350 million, Harper could arguably change the landscape of baseball with his impending decision. Most experts believe his suitors are anywhere from 5-to-10 teams, depending on who you ask.

Well, if you ask Boras, the suitors have been narrowed down to just one.

That’s right. Harper has reportedly already made his decision of where he is going to play next year. Boras dropped some knowledge via YES Network over the weekend:

"“We know who the team is, it’s already completed and done. But Bryce has told me he wanted to tell you personally, so I’m gonna let him do that.”"

Well, alright then.

If the decision is indeed already etched in stone — and by stone, I mean the heart beating inside Harper’s chest — then the question becomes, where has he decided to go?

It would make a whole lot of sense for Harper’s quick decision to be to play for the Cubs. He and Bryant are long-time buddies and, like I mentioned, are represented by the same agent.

The Cubs lacked consistent offense when it mattered most, as evidenced by their 40 games where they scored either zero or one run. Somehow, they still managed to win 95 games while having a completely unpredictable offensive output.

Let us also not forget the words from MLB insider Bruce Levine earlier this year:

"“A future marriage between superstar outfielder Bryce Harper and the Cubs seems inevitable.”"

A year ago, this was all simply fun speculation. Now, it is nearly a reality.

Bryce Harper could soon be a member of the Chicago Cubs.

How does that sound?
