No. 3 Play: Jordan Howard’s 24-Yard Scamper

Jordan Howard has been missing in action for most of the 2018 season.

However, Howard returned in a big way in the win. The third-year back ran for his most yards (81) since Week 1, and found the end zone in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 24-10.

Howard, for really the first time all year, set up his touchdown by himself, as a 24-yard run put the Bears in position to punch it in.

The 24-yard gain was Howard’s longest run in over 100 rushing attempts. While Tarik Cohen has been the beneficiary of most of the Bears long yardage plays, Howard finally got on the board with a sizable gain of his own.

The Bears’ utilization of Howard was been subject to criticism throughout the season. However, given Howard’s newfound productiveness, the manner in which Howard is used will certainly be increased in the future.

As division play will pick up after next week, the Bears will need their entire offense to fire on all cylinders. Howard’s production is a great sign — a sign of life in a what has been a mostly dead season for the former Pro-Bowl back.

Against a horrible Buffalo Bills team next week, Howard will have every opportunity to build on this week’s solid performance,
