Chicago Bears vs. New England Patriots: Totally serious Week 7 awards
By Sam Fels
It was a sobering week for the Chicago Bears. Let’s make it worse by handing out fake awards.
It’s hard to know what the Chicago Bears thought of themselves before taking on the New England Patriots. At least afterwards, they know what they aren’t, which is ready for primetime.

The Bears got a glimpse of what the aristocracy looks like, even on an off day. And while their dreams of joining that club soon shouldn’t be shattered or feel unrealistic, they’ll know the doorman is still going to call upstairs and give you that look when he hangs up the phone.
Both teams were sloppy and both made more mistakes that neither will be happy with. But the Patriots made just a few more plays, and their coaches didn’t start reading the play-sheet backward, and that was basically the difference. The Bears couldn’t make the Patriots look slow as other teams had earlier in the season.
Neither were helped by injuries. The Pats came in without Rob Gronkowski and then lost Sony Michel. The Bears had Khalil Mack on maybe an ankle and a half at best, and Allen Robinson barely played half the game with a barking groin. So that can’t be much of an excuse.
So who gets what coming out of Week 7? Let’s do it!
