Chicago Bulls vs. Detroit Pistons presents entertaining matchups
By Ryan Heckman
In their home opener, the Chicago Bulls welcome the Detroit Pistons to the United Center Saturday.
Thursday night, the Chicago Bulls opened up their 2018-2019 season on the road with a pretty one-sided defeat by the Philadelphia 76ers. Chicago opened up strong with a team-record 41 points in the first quarter, but couldn’t keep the pace going as the game went on and ultimately fell, 127-108.

There was a lot to like about the game, despite the loss. But, there were also some things to worry about going forward. I’ll keep the early hot takes to myself, as we’re now looking ahead to Saturday’s home opener in Chicago against the Detroit Pistons.
The Pistons, unlike the Bulls, opened their season with a win, defeating the Brooklyn Nets. This season, many folks have the Pistons pegged as one of the final seeds in the Eastern Conference Playoffs if they can remain healthy.
For the Bulls, they’re anything but healthy. They played their first game without Lauri Markkanen (elbow), Denzel Valentine (ankle) and Kris Dunn (birth of son). Obviously, Dunn might be back for this one — his status at this moment is up in the air.
The guys who did play, though, saw a well-oiled machine in comparison to themselves when they watched Ben Simmons and the Sixers run all over them Thursday night. Against the Pistons, it will be a different type of team they face. This time, the entertainment should come mainly from inside the paint. These are two matchups I can’t wait to see on Saturday.
