If Bears win, confidence soars to new levels

Let’s say the Bears beat New England. I won’t go into any score prediction or how they do it — let’s just say they win, period.

If that happens, the exact opposite of what I just talked about could happen. Knowing you knocked off Brady and the Pats means you can most certainly hang with anybody in the NFL — not only that, but you can beat them.

The schedule after the Patriots is much less stark than the game at hand. Both the Jets and the Buffalo Bills are on top following Week 7, which are two games the Bears should win. Heck, the Dolphins game should have been a win, so let’s not get too cocky.

But, there’s something to be said about beating a guy like Brady, especially after the Patriots sent the Kansas City Chiefs packing with their first loss of the season last week. Right now, the Patriots look like the class of the AFC once again — is anyone surprised?

The NFC is loaded, but we know the Patriots can beat any one of the teams in this conference on any given day. As long as they have Brady and Bill Belichick, they’ll always have the opportunity to win.

As a fan, I know that if the Bears come out and look strong against New England, while taking the victory, I’d look at the rest of the season a whole lot differently than if they were to lose. Staying atop the NFC North is the first key, but looking ahead knowing you just beat New England? That does wonders for any team’s confidence.
