Chicago Bulls: 3 players who could take home NBA hardware this season
Wendell Carter Jr.
Perhaps the Bull with the best shot to bring home some NBA hardware at the end of the season is the No. 7 overall draft pick, Wendell Carter Jr. Largely considered the most pro-ready prospect with the highest floor in the draft, Carter will be expected to contribute immediately.
In fact, Parker’s aforementioned move to the bench coincided with the insertion of Carter into the starting lineup for the final two preseason games. Will he end up starting once the regular season rolls around? We will find out very soon. But just as Parker is getting significant minutes off the bench, so too was Carter when he was coming off the bench.
In other words, he is going to get his opportunity to play this season — particularly during the first two months of the season while Markkanen recovers from his injury. Carter has a pro-ready skill set that should allow him to put up very solid numbers throughout the season. He’s also a fairly capable defender and rebounder, so expect him to contribute even if he’s having an off game offensively.
That kind of steady production over the course of the entire season could be just enough to seal the deal for Carter and earn him the Rookie of the Year award.
