Chicago Bulls: 3 players who could take home NBA hardware this season
While their record may not end up that great, there are a few Chicago Bulls who could take home some hardware this season.
The 2018-19 NBA regular season is about to kick off for the Chicago Bulls as they will take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center. Unfortunately, expectations aren’t very high this season, continuing an unfortunate and disturbing trend.
What little optimism Bulls fans built up during the offseason disappeared faster than a Lou Malnati’s pizza in the presence of yours truly. That’s because Lauri Markkanen, the prodigal son, suffered a nasty elbow injury and will miss at least another four to six weeks — assuming no setbacks.
However, that is the earliest he will be able to resume basketball activities. Then there is the question of how long it will take for him to get back into basketball shape. That will likely take another couple of weeks.
This is all to say that the first two months of the regular season are going to be even more of a struggle than originally expected. Even with Markkanen, this team was projected to win around 26 -28 games.
But despite what will likely be a lackluster record this season, there are still a few reasons for optimism. That’s because there are a few Bulls that could have some very good individual performances and be in line to take home some regular season NBA awards when it’s all said and done. Who are they? Let’s jump in and take a look.
