How do the Chicago Bears avoid a complete catastrophe against the New England Patriots in Week 7? We break it down for you.

Boy, that was quite the game. It’s not often you see a team pass for over 300 yards, run for over 150 yards, boast one of the league’s most fierce defenses and still lose the football game. But, here we are. That’s exactly what the Chicago Bears did in Week 6.

The Bears came off of their bye week and headed down to Miami to take on the Dolphins. They were riding high at 3-1, leading the NFC North. They should have been well-rested and ready to go. Regardless of the heat, the Bears were poised to make a statement against a backup quarterback.

Then, the pass rush was non-existent. Turnovers came aplenty. Opportunities were missed. Mistakes were made by the coaching staff.

More from Da Windy City

Truly, I tell you, there are not enough words to describe all that went wrong for the Bears in their loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. Most fans will want to jump to conclusions and rush to blame whoever comes to mind quickest.

Mitch Trubisky‘s red zone interception, Jordan Howard‘s fumble on the 1-yard line, Tarik Cohen‘s second-half fumble, Cohen’s blip on 4th-and-1 early in the game, Matt Nagy’s decision to stay content with a 50-plus-yard field goal with the game on the line at 3rd-and-4, the countless missed tackles… Pick one. Pick all of them. No matter which direction you head, you’re right.

This loss should not be pinned on one or two people in particular, but rather the entire team. No one is safe from criticism this week heading into a huge Week 7 matchup with the New England Patriots.

Speaking of the Patriots, how on earth do these Bears plan to stop a red-hot offense like New England? How do they avoid what looks to be an impending catastrophe?

Let’s look at a lot of what happened against Miami and see if we can offer some hope against the Patriots, because, these Bears would get absolutely blown out of the water.
