Thin out at forward

This season, the Bulls realistically have far too many guys who can play the wing. Zach LaVine, Jabari Parker, Denzel Valentine, Justin Holiday, and Chandler Hutchison are all guys worth giving minutes to in one way or another. I could argue a couple of those don’t deserve significant playing time, which is why I think the Bulls need to move someone.

What makes the most sense, especially if the Bulls aren’t going to compete anytime soon, is allowing their second first-rounder to get on the court earlier rather than later. Moving either Holiday or Valentine would do Hutchison some justice and allow him to play far more than he may have without them gone.

This offseason, the front office made it seem as though they like Valentine and want to keep him around as a piece on the bench. I’m fine with this, as long as it means Holiday is gone. Either deal Holiday, or at the very least, allow him to walk after his contract is up this year.

The problem with Valentine is the fact that he’s dealt with injuries off and on, including at this very moment. I think he showed enough last year to warrant a spot in the rotation off the bench, but if Hutchison offers the team more on the defensive side of the ball, he should be getting minutes — we know just how bad this team could be defensively.
