Mr. Un-containable: Running Back Tarik Cohen
During the offseason, there was plenty of talk about running back Jordan Howard. Some folks even went so far as to say he should or could be traded. Why? He was thought be many to be a poor fit in Nagy’s offense. While that has been proven untrue, the real star of the show recently has been fellow back Tarik Cohen.
The game against the Bucs truly showcased how special Cohen can be within this offense. He was a monster in the receiving game, catching seven passes for 121 yards and a score. He also ran the ball well, rushing 13 times for 53 yards.
On the season, he’s been used all over the place. He’s been seen on the ground, in the passing game and in the return game on special teams. However he’s been able to get the ball in the open field, the Bears have reaped the benefit.
One of the most impressive aspects of Cohen’s game is his ability to get downfield and make spectacular catches. With his speed, he’s been a matchup nightmare on routes in the flat or even further down on wheel routes. Cohen has been borderline un-defendable at times, and this offense is still getting comfortable.
The offense, along with Cohen, hasn’t even come close to hitting their stride yet. Just wait until things are hitting on all cylinders, and we might see this guy reach unbelievable heights.
