Chicago Bears: Post-bye week could easily see run to 6-2
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears head into their bye week atop the NFC North at 3-1. It’s time to get excited about the games ahead. Let’s talk about it.
Well, here we are. The Chicago Bears are headed into an early bye week riding a 3-game winning streak while atop the NFC North — just like all the experts predicted, right?
Sure, laugh it up. Because, the narrative that this Bears team is still a year away could be buried quickly and all of those “experts” will have to settle for late-night comedy specials instead of what they thought they knew.

The defense is better than anyone could have expected. Obviously, adding arguably the best defensive player in the game will take it up a notch. But, Khalil Mack has been better than advertised. He has made the entire defensive unit better, individually.
Mack enters the bye having recorded a strip-sack in his first four games as a Bear — that’s unheard of. He’s making it an every-week occurrence. He’s playing in such a manner where fans are going to start getting upset if he goes a game without a big play. Alright, that might be hyperbole, but you get the point.
The offense, meanwhile, has seen its share of ups and downs. But, I don’t think they could have had a better game against Tampa Bay. Now they go into a week off feeling as confident as ever, especially Mitch Trubisky.
So, where is the ceiling, here? Just how far can the Bears go with this thing? Coming off their bye week, we could easily be watching a Bears team that goes on a run to a record of 6-2, still tops in the division. How do they do it? It’s pretty simple.
