Chicago Bears fans are looking for that signature performance from quarterback Mitch Trubisky. The stars are aligned on Monday night for that to happen against the Seattle Seahawks.

For one half, Mitch Trubisky looked solid and made Chicago Bears‘ general manager Ryan Pace look like a genius. Trubisky was precise in his first three series on offense. Drawing praise from Chris Collinsworth and looking like a guy that is ready to make that jump in his development. Then the second half happened and it gave fans a reminder that Trubisky is only in his 13th career start.

Too many times, Trubisky opted not to look through his progression after his first read was covered. Instead, he would rush out the pocket for minimal gain on the ground. It’s encouraging to see Trubisky use his athleticism as a secondary option when things break down. On the other hand, Trubisky has too many talented skill players around him to be stuck on one read.

There’s absolutely too much talent on the offensive side of the football for Trubisky not to have a better performance on Monday night. That’s with news coming out that the Seahawks will be without four starters that include star linebacker Bobby Wagner, veteran starter K.J. Wright, and possibly starting cornerback Tre Flowers. It’s certainly a recipe for a bounce-back game for this offense that struggled mightily against the Green Bay Packers’ defensive unit.

We see the potential of this offense under Matt Nagy in the first half and spurts of it during the preseason. Allen Robinson showed glimpses in that Packers game that he can indeed be that go-to wide receiver that Trubisky can go to when he needs a play. He will be followed throughout the game by Seahawks corner Shaquill Griffin, who is nursing a thigh injury. Trubisky should be able to test that side of the field often throughout the night.

Taylor Gabriel showed early on that his deep speed is well respected, which will allow him to eat up yards in the short-to-intermediate passing game. Anthony Miller and Trey Burton also are expected to bounce back from quiet performances. The deep passing game will be a challenge for Trubisky with one of the best safeties in the league Earl Thomas center fielding, so when opportunities are there Trubisky has to make them count.

The opportunity is there for Trubisky to make a name for himself under the big lights on Monday night football.
