Loser: Mitch Trubisky

I’ve seen so many hot takes today on social media. People are already calling Mitch Trubisky a bust and ready to put Chase Daniel in at quarterback. Stop it. Trubisky was not good last night. He was not awful. He was just “meh”.

Trubisky finished the game 23 for 35 with 171 passing yards. There were no passing touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran the ball seven times for 32 yards and a touchdown.

There were a lot of nice throws. However, there were some really bad ones. Sure, a lot of the throws came on the scripted 15, but Trubisky still had to go out and execute. The talent is there. We saw it in the first half. The second half was a different story.

The happy feet were evident when pressure came, he also overthrew some receivers. Please keep in mind that this was his 13th NFL start and his first in hostile Lambeau Field. It is far too early to tell if Trubisky is the wrong guy. Maybe year three is the year he takes the huge jump, but it could still be this year.

The good thing is that Trubisky acknowledges his mistakes and knows what he needs to do to improve. When are things not fixed? When you’re in denial and not recognizing your errors. Have faith in Trubisky.
