Chicago Bears: 5 keys to beating Green Bay Packers
By Ryan Heckman
Hit Aaron Rodgers constantly and effectively
Look, Rodgers is one of the greatest talents the NFL has ever seen at the quarterback position. If you don’t believe that by now, you’re simply in denial. He’s a phenomenal talent. In order to beat him, you need to get your hands on him early in the game — and continue to do so.
Rodgers is incredibly mobile at the position, and once you think you’ve got a clear path to him, you better bring him down. Throwing on the run is something Rodgers does very well. He’s always been one of the more accurate passers while rolling out, and Chicago’s pass rush must get home before he is allowed to get the ball out.
Fortunately for the Bears, this year’s front seven looks a little bit different than it did when facing Rodgers in recent years. Adding Mack and Smith will prove to be unmeasurable, impactful parts of this defense. The speed both of these guys possess is nearly unmatched by other linebackers across this division.
If the Bears can get to Rodgers and get him to the ground often, their chances of winning skyrocket. The only way to prevent Rodgers from beating you is to either get him on the ground or ensure he’s on the sideline. The defense can do their part in getting him to the ground while the offense hopefully takes time off the clock with smart, efficient and lengthy drives.
