Chicago Bears: Bold predictions for Week 1 against Packers

Trey Burton leads Bears in receiving
Follow me on this one. The Bears have so many weapons at the wide receiver position. We may very well see a deep shot or two completed to guys like Taylor Gabriel and Anthony Miller. We could see a few phenomenal catches by no. 1 wideout Allen Robinson. Heck, we might even see Tarik Cohen pull off a few highlight-reel type of catch-and-runs.
But, in this one, tight end Trey Burton is going to lead the Bears in receiving. The Bears haven’t had a tight end like Burton. He will be on the field for just about every offensive snap on Sunday night, and he’ll be lined up in various spots along the way.
At one point, Burton looked like he would give way to Adam Shaheen for a few targets here and there. Now that Shaheen was placed on injured reserve, it’s Burton’s show. He should see anywhere from 7-to-12 targets on Sunday night.
We saw in limited preseason action, and all throughout training camp, that Burton became Trubisky’s favorite target. The two have created a bond that looks tighter than that of Trubisky and any other receiver or tight end on the team.
The Packers are down two linebackers and have a pair of rookie cornerbacks coming into this one, and Burton is quick enough, athletic enough and explosive enough to exploit those spots. Look for Burton to light up Lambeau on Sunday night.
