Chicago Bears: 10 bold predictions following Khalil Mack trade
By Ryan Heckman
Bears make the playoffs in 2018
What? Playoffs? Am I crazy?
I might be — but let’s hold off the name-calling until November or December, at least. Give it some time.
Just for fun, let’s do a quick full-season prediction:
Week 1 @ Packers: Win (1-0)
Week 2 vs. Seahawks: Win (2-0)
Week 3 @ Cardinals: Win (3-0)
Week 4 vs. Buccaneers: Win (4-0)
Week 5: Bye
Week 6 @ Dolphins: Win (5-0)
Week 7 vs. Patriots: Loss (5-1)
Week 8 vs. Jets: Win (6-1)
Week 9 @ Bills: Win (7-1)
Week 10 vs. Lions: Win (8-1)
Week 11 vs. Vikings: Loss (8-2)
Week 12 @ Lions: Loss (8-3)
Week 13 @ Giants: Win (9-3)
Week 14 vs. Rams: Loss (9-4)
Week 15 vs. Packers: Loss (9-5)
Week 16 @ 49ers: Win (10-5)
Week 17 @ Vikings: Loss (10-6)
The beginning of the season will be crucial for the Bears if they are to make any noise in the playoff race this year. The division will be grueling, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Bears split all three series with their rivals.
The end of the season is going to be very, very tough. In their final four games, the Bears will have difficult matchups. Five of their final eight games are amidst the division, which is going to tell a lot about their chances. But, with a strong start to the season, the Bears can win 10 games and squeeze into a wildcard spot.
The Bears make the playoffs in 2018. Count on it.
