Odds for Bears in 2018

One of the craziest parts of team sports is when one single player can impact a game, or a full season, to an extent where it becomes overwhelmingly different than the time period prior to that player coming into the scene.

Take, for example, Super Bowl 50 between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. This is just one game, but one game where a guy playing the exact same position as Mack dominated. Von Miller may have single-handedly won that championship for the Broncos, which was why he was named MVP on the night.

Miller finished that championship game with six total tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass defended — talk about a big-time player coming up in a big-time game.

Mack has already made an impression on the league in terms of where he has put the Bears’ odds going forward.

There have been odds released all over the place for the Bears’ upcoming season, following the Mack trade. Super Bowl odds have reached heights as high as 40-to-1, whereas before the trade they sat at 100-to-1.

Per Steve Delsohn (@stevedelsohn) and some work he has done with MyBookie (@MyBookieNFL), check out some other Bears odds he has come up with:

  • Bears season win/loss line immediately jumped a full game to 7.5

  • Odds to win 2019 Super Bowl jumped to 60-to-1

  • Odds to win NFC Championship are now 30-to-1 (40-to-1 prior)

  • Odds to win NFC North are 5-to-1 (8-to-1 prior)

And, just for fun, Delsohn’s odds for landing Mack had the Packers as the favorites at 2-to-1 odds, whereas the Bears were at 3-to-1.

Just like that, the Bears became a whole heck of a lot better. All it took was one player.
