Chicago Bears: 5 most consistent players during 2018 NFL Preseason
By Ryan Heckman
Wide Receiver Javon Wims
One of the most ludicrous questions I have seen hovering around social media for the last few days is whether or not rookie seventh-round pick Javon Wims makes the roster. Actually, that isn’t specifically the question I have seen. The question I have seen most often is along the lines of whether or not he will slide through waivers and make it onto the practice squad.
The practice squad? Are you kidding me?
Some fans out there are telling me that, first of all, the Bears are going to be crazy enough to cut Wims. Second, some of them wonder if he would go unclaimed by another team.
In case you haven’t been paying attention, the former Georgia Bulldog stands 6-foot-4, 209 pounds and has been making play after play throughout the preseason. I would say that out of everyone on this Bears roster, Wims has made the strongest impression during preseason play.
The fact that he didn’t play against the Bills should speak volumes. He ended his preseason with 15 receptions for 227 yards and one ridiculous, toe-tapping touchdown against the Chiefs last Saturday.
Wims has been the standout player for the Bears during August’s exhibitions. He not only makes this team, but I believe he has a bigger impact than a guy like Kevin White. You can book it.
