Chicago Bears: Players who could surprisingly make final roster vs. Bills
By Ryan Heckman
Guard Jordan Morgan
I hope you have not forgotten about 2017 fifth-round pick Jordan Morgan just yet. He has not been talked about much, but missed all of his rookie season due to injury. The 24-year-old guard is amidst an offensive line with plenty of guys who can play multiple positions, but if the Bears choose to keep a pure guard, Morgan could be the guy.
The Bears decided to cut ties with veteran guard Earl Watford earlier this week, which came as somewhat of a shock to many fans. It was this news that should have given a guy like Morgan some hope. If Watford stuck on the roster, Morgan very well could have been cut.
Right now, Bradley Sowell seems to be in the lead for one of the reserve spots up front. As a swing tackle, Sowell can play both guard and tackle, which is incredibly valuable to offensive line coach Harry Hiestand.
Morgan has not been talked about a lot throughout the preseason, and his last chance to make an impression will be against Buffalo. Depending on his performance, he could find himself on the outside looking in come September 1. But, if he turns in a strong outing, he will make the decision much tougher for Nagy and his staff.
