Outside Linebacker Kasim Edebali

How is this for irony? Over the last few seasons, pass rusher Kasim Edebali has laid hits on both Jay Cutler and Mike Glennon, two of the most talked about Bears quarterbacks in recent memory — and for many reasons.

Now, the Bears appear to have their quarterback situation under control and Edebali is fighting to make the Bears’ roster at a highly questionable position.

The outside linebacker group is one of the more unstable positions on this roster, and quite frankly, the Bears better look to pick up another player following cuts this weekend. The way it looks now, it’s anyone’s game between Edebali, Kylie Fitts and Isaiah Irving. Heck, even Aaron Lynch might not even be safe after hardly practicing all summer.

Edebali is a veteran and, like many players, could be a late bloomer. Over the preseason, he has shown a lot of flashes coming off the edge. He has looked quick and his hands have often been the best part of his game.

It would surprise me to see Edebali make the final cut, but at the same time it wouldn’t. It’s tough to put into words, but this position is so thin right now that it’s anyone’s game.
