Chicago Bears: Players who could surprisingly make final roster vs. Bills
By Ryan Heckman
There are likely to be some surprises on the final Chicago Bears 53-man roster. These five players could end up beating the odds.
Let’s just say that the first matchup between the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills this year will be much different than the second. The Bears host the Bills Thursday night in their fifth and final preseason game, thanks to having an extra outing due to the Hall of Fame Game.
Later this year, the Bears travel to the Bills’ stomping grounds in a game which will actually matter.

Actually, to say Thursday’s game doesn’t matter is somewhat of a misguided stereotype. This game matters a whole heck of a lot for several players on the Bears’ current roster. After all, the team will go from a once-90-man squad all the way down to 53 by the time September 1 rolls around.
Every year, we are surprised by certain cuts around the league. Typically, fans are equally surprised, and maybe even puzzled, by decisions to keep particular players. The Bears should be no exception to this trend, and come Saturday, I assure you that most fans will question at least one or two players kept on this team.
No one will ever agree 100 percent of the time with the decisions a head coach makes — take last week’s preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs for the most recent example. Head coach Matt Nagy rested the starters and, in return, received a plethora of criticism and questioning.
Could he choose to retain some players which would result in a similar reaction? Or, let’s put it this way: Could some players come out and play like their lives depend on it against the Bills, thus forcing Nagy into a tougher decision? It’s a fine possibility.
So, which players could end up surprising us and making the roster following solid outings against the Bills? Let’s take a look at five in particular.
