Chicago Bears: 10 players fighting for roster spot vs. Buffalo Bills
By Ryan Heckman
Center Hroniss Grasu
The former Oregon Duck might be on his last leg at this point. The Bears have seen some solid play out of many other reserve linemen throughout the preseason and in camp, so Grasu’s chances of making the roster are fairly slim to none.
A former third-round pick and the former roommate of starting right guard Kyle Long, Grasu’s immediate future after being drafted looked promising. Some experts even had a second-round grade on Grasu, so the 2015 draft selection was poised to make an impact right away.
Unfortunately, injuries and flat-out poor play have lessened the chances of Grasu making the team this year. If he stuck around, it would be one of the bigger surprises on the roster.
Still, if he comes out and has a great game against the Bills, he might just have a chance. The way I see it, he is more of a practice squad candidate than a roster candidate at this point. But, you never know where he and Hiestand’s relationship is at right now. Depth up front is going to be key, especially with a guy like Long and his health history. Can Grasu be the product of a miracle?
