Chicago Bears: 10 players fighting for roster spot vs. Buffalo Bills
By Ryan Heckman
Outside Linebacker Isaiah Irving
If you want to talk about a heated battle and heavily debated position amongst fans, look no further. Isaiah Irving joins a group of edge rushers that are dying to make the roster. Not only that, but the Bears are dying for one of them to step up and lead the way.
So far, Irving is one of the favorites to land a remaining spot. He joins competition with Kasim Edebali, Aaron Lynch and rookie 6th-round pick Kylie Fitts.
Irving has looked great at times, and has even appeared to put on a bit more muscle over the course of the summer. Health hasn’t really been much of an issue for Irving, so he is a step ahead of some others in that respect.
If Irving indeed suits up and plays on Thursday night, that would be a sign that he is still competing — and I would bet that is the case. The Bears’ edge rusher problem is far from solved, and I am not so sure they want to go an entire season trusting Sam Acho at the position opposite of Leonard Floyd.
Irving has a shot to make his impression last even longer on Thursday, and I for one am pulling for him. I love what I have seen out of him so far and think he would make a tremendous addition to the pass rush rotation.
