Chicago Bears: 10 players fighting for roster spot vs. Buffalo Bills
By Ryan Heckman
With the Chicago Bears’ fifth and final preseason game of the year coming up against the Buffalo Bills, several players are fighting for jobs.
Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy may be starting a trend, or so some might hope. Nagy chose not to dress the majority of starters for the team’s fourth preseason game agains the Kansas City Chiefs, choosing health over any other factor at this point.

While it’s pretty safe to say we know a good amount of players’ fate at this point, there are still several players competing for a few remaining roster spots. This week at practice, combined with how each of them play in the team’s final preseason tilt against the Buffalo Bills, should provide us with a bit more clarity.
Teams must cut their roster to 53 men by September 1, which is coming up quick. Over anything else, I am curious to see which players get the nod by Nagy and go ahead and play on Thursday night. The players ultimately held out should feel pretty good about themselves and won’t have to worry a whole lot when it comes to locking down a roster spot.
For a good amount of players, however, this is their time to shine. The very last opportunity to make a push for the roster begins Thursday night, with a speedy turnaround impending when roster spots will be officially filled.
Which players still have their status up in the air? I try to take my best guess at 10 guys who will be playing for their lives on Thursday night. Some, more than others, should have their chances already pretty high. But, there are a few who are in need of a near-miracle right now.
