Chicago Bears: 5 players who must not make final roster
By Ryan Heckman
Outside Linebacker Aaron Lynch
Probably the most debatable guy on this list, Aaron Lynch simply hasn’t earned a thing on this Bears roster. Lynch came to Chicago after spending a few seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, and I understand why the Bears took a flier on him.
He has a prior relationship with Vic Fangio, so the Bears saw some potential — as did I. Most fans, like myself, thought it was a good move.
So far, though, Lynch has hardly seen the field — no, not just the playing field. Not just live-game action. Lynch has hardly practiced since joining the Bears. He has been injured on three separate occasions throughout offseason activities.
At a position with so many guys fighting for a job, Lynch has yet to do anything worthy of note. He hasn’t been on the practice field. He hasn’t been in the game. He doesn’t deserve a spot. It’s that simple.
Other players like Isaiah Irving have stepped up and made plenty of good on the opportunity at hand, with Lynch sidelined. The Bears need depth at this position, and at the moment, they’re trying desperately to find it. Lynch should be out of the equation, period.
With that said, if he makes the roster, gets healthy and ultimately ends up playing a significant role, I will be happy to eat my words. I am a fan who enjoys seeing the Bears win football games. That’s what it’s about.
