Chicago Bulls: 5 Bold Predictions for the 2018-2019 Season
II. Wendell Carter Jr. will make the All-Rookie First Team
Atlanta native Wendell Carter Jr. was set to be the next star for the Blue Devils in Durham, but that reality quickly vanished when high-school prodigy, Marvin Bagley III re-classified and committed to Duke almost exactly a year ago.
Numerous scouts believe that if Carter Jr. had the chance to be the first option on last year’s Duke team, he would have been in the conversation for the number one pick in the NBA draft.
Wendell is perhaps one of the most interesting prospects in this entire rookie class. He has often been considered a high floor, low ceiling player, but with his IQ, great rebounding ability, and an inside-out game, Carter Jr. has a chance to emerge as the best player in this draft class, even surpassing his former teammate, Bagley III.
No rookie can be expected to come in and contribute immediately or even be expected to pan out how they were expected to, so this can give Carter an opportunity to sneak his way onto the All-Rookie First Team, much like his new teammate, Lauri Markkanen did.
If Carter can play very well and make the playoffs in just his first season, his spot among the NBA’s best rookies can be secured.
