Chicago Bulls: 5 Bold Predictions for the 2018-2019 Season
III. Zach LaVine will earn his new contract
This summer, the Bulls matched the Sacramento Kings’ 4-year, $78 million contract offer to Zach LaVine in restricted free agency. This move resulted in some mixed reactions from Bulls fans.
One one hand, LaVine is a young, promising player who has all the physical tools and the work ethic to become a star player, but on the other hand, 24 games just seems like too meager of a sample size of his game to determine if he is worth almost $20M annually.
At this point it would just make sense to pay your young star and trust in his development and willingness to work everyday towards becoming the face of the franchise.
With his already impressive skill set, workhorse mentality, and a few years of NBA basketball under his belt, LaVine has an incredible opportunity to elevate his game to another level and break through as the clear leader of this young Bulls team.
As a result of the hometown kid, Jabari Parker, making his return to Chicago, this could be a huge competitive boost for LaVine, who is already heavily motivated. He has been counted out his entire life, but he has risen above the doubters. There’s a good chance he will continue that trend this season.
