Chicago Bulls: 5 bold predictions for Zach LaVine in 2018-2019
By Ryan Heckman
Bold Prediction Number 1
20 points per game on 47 percent shooting, 40 percent from three-point range
Over his career, LaVine has garnered a multitude of opinions among fans in both Minnesota and Chicago. Some have viewed him as simply an athletic kid who lives above the rim, and that’s about it.
Others, though, see the potential in him to be a star player. I’ll admit, I’ve had my doubts. But, looking at the numbers, LaVine certainly has it in him to take his offensive game to the next level.
Last season, LaVine played just 24 games after coming back from a tough ACL injury the previous season. In those 24 games, he posted 20 or more points in 11 of them, including one 35-point outing (more on that later).
Twice in his career, he has knocked down seven three-pointers in a game. So, it’s not like he cant hit from deep. The question regarding his scoring ability has always been whether or not he can score consistently.
LaVine’s career-high season in terms of points per game came the season prior to being dealt, where he posted 18.9 points per game on a career-high 45.9 percent shooting from the field. He also shot 38.7 percent from deep that season.
His game is headed in the right direction, and this season I boldly predict he’ll take it up a hefty notch.
