Chicago Bears: Why Roquan Smith should play against Broncos
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears and Roquan Smith have come to terms on a deal after a 29-day impasse. How soon should he be on the field?
Some might say this coming Saturday is a bit too soon for the Chicago Bears rookie inside linebacker to take the field, following his lengthy absence from the team. But, Roquan Smith will indeed be eligible to play on Saturday and should have some time to get in a handful of practices.

After the saga that was Smith’s holdout, fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Now, it’s all about seeing the kid on the field. You better believe the anticipation is at an all-time high for a Bears first-round draft pick in recent years.
Some fans grew angry, while others sat back and let the process play out. Regardless of which side you stood on, one thing we all have in common at this point is to see the guy play some football in a Bears uniform.
That chance could first come in the Bears’ third preseason game in Denver, where they will first hold joint practices with the Broncos. If head coach Matt Nagy so chooses, Smith could be rolled out then.
I’m on the side that says Smith needs to be out there, if even for just a couple of series. Why? There are several reasons, but three particular ones stick out to me.
