Tight Ends

The tight end position was actually quite boring and unproductive a couple years ago. You had Zach Miller, who has been a fan favorite but unable to stay healthy over his career. He was the highlight of that group in recent years. But, this season will be different. Chicago finally has a ton of talent at this position.

Starter: Trey Burton

Burton is going to be a focal point of this offense. For those who may not have seen any training camp practices, Trubisky narrowed in on Burton early and often in several practices. Burton was lined up at all areas of the field as well, throughout camp, which was exciting to see. He’s going to catch a lot of passes and come as a mismatch for many linebackers.

Others: Adam Shaheen, Dion Sims, Ben Braunecker

One of the standouts over training camp and the first bit of preseason action has been Shaheen. His play has been outstanding. During camp, we saw tons of acrobatic catches in the end zone and as fans, we can only imagine how he’s going to look in the red zone come the regular season.

As for the other guys, Sims was likely going to stick on the roster barring an absolutely horrendous camp due to the money invested in him a year ago. He’s listed ahead of Shaheen on the depth chart right now, but that’s simply because he’ll be out there blocking often. The receiving threats are Burton and Shaheen, period. As for the fourth spot, Braunecker has played himself into that role throughout camp and the early preseason. Daniel Brown may be in some trouble.
