Jordan Howard is one of the better running backs in the league. But could Chicago Bears rumors indicate they are looking to upgrade in a big way?

The NFL is a running backs league.

The Chicago Bears just so happen to have a good one in Jordan Howard, a Pro-Bowl caliber back.

However, the Bears could always look for an upgrade. As a matter of fact, they might’ve already looked into that.

In the weeks leading up to draft day, a rumor surfaced that the Bears were shopping Howard, specifically to the Miami Dolphins.

The trade was rumored to involve the two teams swapping first-round picks, with the Bears sending Howard to Miami and the Dolphins sending star wide receiver Jarvis Landry to Chicago.

Obviously, that didn’t, and probably was never going to happen. For one, the Bears likely would value Howard at a higher level than Landry, therefore the Bears trading down and parting with Howard made no sense.

But the bottom line is this: the Bears allegedly were somewhat open to dealing Howard. He isn’t untouchable.

With the regular season rapidly approaching, the Bears probably should and will hold on to Howard, who is expected to play a major role in the Bears offense.

But what if the Bears think that they can do better than Howard? What if they’re still open to dealing him? What if a significant upgrade is available on the open market?

There is a potential answer to question number three. In fact, that upgrade could be the best running back in the NFL: Le’Veon Bell.
