Chicago Bears: 3 overlooked players to watch against Bengals
By Ryan Heckman

Running Back Taquan Mizzell
Last may, Taquan Mizzell was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent. The running back came out of the University of Virginia came into the NFL as the only ACC player with at least 1,500 rushing yards and 1,500 receiving yards over his career.
Mizzell’s time with the Ravens didn’t last long, though, as he was waived in early September, just before being claimed by the Bears. Mizzell never carried the ball once for the Bears last year, and only suited up for three games.
This summer, he’s competing with the likes of Benny Cunningham and Ryan Nall for one of the final roster spots at running back. The thought, right now, is that Cunningham should be a lock to make the roster. That leaves Mizzell and Nall competing for a fourth spot, if the Bears choose to carry four.

Nall has been somewhat of a fan favorite at training camp thus far, and MIzzell is more of an afterthought. Sadly, he’s been viewed as only a camp body, but with a strong preseason, he could potentially play his way onto the team — again, if they carry four running backs.
We know that Mizzell is a versatile back who can catch the ball out of the backfield, and he’s much quicker than Nall. He has those things going for him at the moment, but can he build some momentum through August? It continues against Cincinnati.
