Chicago Bears Rumors: Potential trade packages for Earl Thomas
By Ryan Heckman
Trade Package no. 2
For the average fan who may not know, every one of these trade packages might just be overpaying. I know that could sound a bit crazy, but in the NFL, rarely are teams compensated correctly for high-end players. Just take a look at past trades like Randy Moss to the New England Patriots.
Like I mentioned earlier, the closer we come to the start of the season, the less likely the Seahawks are to getting anywhere near what they want for Thomas.
In this scenario, the Bears come out with Thomas after giving up a fourth-round pick and a player who addresses a huge hole for the Seahawks right now — tight end. Adam Shaheen would fill an enormous void left by now-Green Bay Packers tight end, Jimmy Graham.
Last season, Graham accounted for 10 touchdowns and was only a threat inside the 10-yard line. If anything, Shaheen could give the Seahawks that at minimum. Quarterback Russell Wilson needs another big body like Graham, and Shaheen would fit the mold.
You better believe former Bears wideout Brandon Marshall isn’t likely to end up that kind of guy at his age and after struggling with recent injuries. The Bears wave goodbye to a young tight end who may end up being a phenomenal red zone threat, but they get the All-Pro safety and a late pick for good measure.
