Chicago Bears Rumors: Potential trade packages for Earl Thomas
By Ryan Heckman
With Seattle Seahawks All Pro safety Earl Thomas demanding a new contract or a trade, and rumors flying around, could the Chicago Bears make a deal?
It is that time of the year, folks. It is the time where, if your team is dealing with a holdout, you begin to get a little nervous if you’re a fan. In the case of the Chicago Bears and rookie linebacker Roquan Smith, I think it’s safe to say most fans are at the point where they could care less about taking sides — we just want a deal done.

In the situation going on with the Seattle Seahawks and safety Earl Thomas, fans are experiencing slightly different emotions. Thomas recently published his thoughts in The Player’s Tribune regarding his holdout. Simply put, he wants to be offered an extension or he wants out.
Fortunately, the Bears aren’t dealing with that extreme of a scenario with Smith. But, in both cases, fans are getting antsy. Something needs to be done.
So, with Thomas looking as though he could be on his way out, where does he go? Which teams pick up the phone? There are a handful of reasons why the Bears wouldn’t go after Thomas, and I understand every one of them. However, Thomas is too good of a player to pass up the opportunity.
Should Ryan Pace at least test the waters a bit? I don’t see why not. What would it take to get Thomas in a Bears uniform, though? His price might have come down now that the season is near its start. Join me on this journey as I attempt to understand what it would take for Thomas to become a Bear.
